The use of multipliers come in handy when painting cabinets. Measure the length X height X multiplier. The multiplier will differ depending on the type of cabinets. Closed cabinets including the face, backs of doors/drawers, and finished edges resulted in a multiplier of 6 in this example. Always keep in mind estimating is both an art and science.
Example Length 25’ X 4’ height X multiplier 6 = 600 SF Production timing is then necessary to estimate the man-hours. Production rates come from tracking time spent on each item of service. Below is only an example.
600 SF / 300 SF per hour X 1 application to degrease/clean = 2 man hours 600 SF / 150 SF per hour X 2 applications for sanding = 8 man hours (sanding before and after priming) 600 SF / 200 SF per hour X 3-spray applications = 9 man-hours (One prime coat and two finish coats) 600 SF / 300 SF per hour X 3 = 6 hours (Remove and reset hardware with leveling doors after painting is complete)
Total man hours: 25
Materials: Degreaser cleaning agent, sanding paper, bonding primer, and cabinet paint.
